The DVIDS API is your portal to Department of Defense Public Media Content. Using the DVIDS API, it is possible to search our library of over 1.8 million assets and retrieve information to display and publish the media on your own website, application, or cms.
The API is implemented with JSON over HTTP. Integration is possible from any language that can make an HTTP request and parse JSON responses. This includes PHP, Python, Perl, .NET, Java, and also Javascript.
CORS headers are included in responses so that the API may be called directly by Javascript based JSON clients from the domain associated with your access key.
Access to the API is currently open. To obtain an access key, please use the login/signup links on the top right. Please contact dvidsservicedesk@dvidshub.net for access issues, questions, or support.
