event 00:46.550 --> 00:49.160 because we had the honor of presenting 00:49.160 --> 00:51.570 to one of Nevada's own businesses, 00:51.570 --> 00:55.651 one of the very few Freedom Awards given out each year. 00:55.651 --> 00:58.138 Today, Battlefield Vegas was awarded 00:58.138 --> 01:00.614 the Secretary of Defense Freedom Award 01:00.614 --> 01:05.370 out of over 2,600 nominees from across the nation. 01:05.370 --> 01:08.880 Nevada alone submitted originally 23 companies 01:08.880 --> 01:11.115 and we whittled that down to three. 01:11.115 --> 01:13.202 Eventually at the national level, 01:13.202 --> 01:16.380 the national leadership was impressed 01:16.380 --> 01:20.080 with Battlefield Vegas to the point that they selected them 01:20.080 --> 01:21.418 for this amazing award. 01:21.418 --> 01:24.340 And I've spoken to people in Washington, DC 01:24.340 --> 01:26.031 who remembered reading the writeup 01:26.031 --> 01:28.630 about Battlefield Vegas, 01:28.630 --> 01:31.770 because it is so special and unique that we actually do hope 01:31.770 --> 01:35.231 that other companies take advantage and follow their example 01:35.231 --> 01:39.346 of how to best employ guardsmen and reservists. 01:39.346 --> 01:42.809 ESGR's role is very important, 01:42.809 --> 01:44.436 but it's also a fun role. 01:44.436 --> 01:47.440 All of us are volunteers. 01:47.440 --> wife, Karla 02:54.400 --> 02:55.920 would fly to Washington, DC 02:55.920 --> 02:57.689 for a several days of ceremonies 02:57.689 --> 02:59.741 with the Secretary of Defense. 02:59.741 --> 03:03.510 Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions in Washington, DC, 03:03.510 --> 03:06.318 many of the people that normally work in Washington, DC 03:06.318 --> 03:08.199 are still working from home. 03:08.199 --> 03:10.891 So today they delegated that responsibility 03:10.891 --> 03:12.887 to the ESGR State Chairman 03:12.887 --> 03:17.887 and to one other member volunteer for ESGR 03:18.420 --> 03:21.350 to present the award on behalf of the Secretary of Defense. 03:21.350 --> 03:22.183 So it was an honor 03:22.183 --> 03:24.970 to represent the Secretary of Defense today. 03:24.970 -->
