I’m Airman First Class Lance Ethan Ryans. I was the first in the Air Force. My brother was first in the Navy.

00:27.126 --> 00:39.154
A lot of my family was shocked that I came into the military. I was more so the person to go to college, go to law school and everything like that. Be as I’m a cop, I can still law. I’m still in law enforcement.

00:40.758 --> 01:03.442
As far as what I do is just security. It’s law enforcement. You are protecting people. You have a mission and you’re held to a prior standard being security forces also because people come to you in dire need or times of despair. They’re coming to you looking for help from you. And you have to make a quick judgment. You have to be ready for any decision that you make and you have to back it up.

01:03.442 --> 01:12.819
Me personally, I love the gate. I’ve met a lot of individuals at the gate. Just saying hello, how you doing.

01:13.128 --> 01:14.290
"Hello Sir, how you doing today?"

01:14.290 --> 01:33.200
They say, I’m fine and then I say their name when I read their ID card. I’m not just looking at the ID card and giving it back to them. I’m actually saying have a great day Mrs. So’n’so or Mr. So’n’so, just to make them feel comfortable. Make them feel like, if he can have a good day and he’s standing all day or he’s in the cold or he’s extra hot, then I think I can have a great day.

01:33.799 --> 01:46.727
Everyone on this base is your wingman because you never know when you might need them and they never know when they might need you. So, as long as you got that good communication and that good relationship everything will be easier. Life will be easier.

01:47.956 --> 01:56.382
We have very intelligent individuals in the Air Force. And we have very important missions in the Air force.

01:57.198 --> 02:12.538
You got to have integrity to do this job. Excellence in all we do, that means a lot. But as a security forces member, it’s definitely service before self. You got to worry about the people more so than worrying about yourself. Those core values mean a lot to me as especially as a first responder.
